Nirvana Mitra is a Research Director at the Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL). Before joining CAFRAL, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Shiv Nadar University.

His main areas of interest are macroeconomics, sovereign debt and defaults, consumer finance, and issues related to firm dynamics in emerging market economies.He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Stony Brook University.
