Parijat Lal is a postdoctoral researcher with Joseph Stiglitz at Columbia University. He is interested in studying development and inequality through the lens of public and labour economics. He received his PhD in Economics from Columbia University and holds a BA in Economics from Harvard University. His research spans work on the effects of withholding taxes on trade in services, import tax evasion in Uganda, public service delivery in India, and the intersection between industrial reform and cooperative ownership in India.
Parijat has also worked with the UNDP, the IMF, and JPAL South Asia and has been a consultant on projects for the World Bank, WHO, and USAID through Dalberg Advisors.
