Poulomi Chakrabarti is a visiting scholar at the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute, Harvard University. She studies how social identity – ethnicity, class, and particularly social status – shapes political mobilisation and redistribution. Poulomi holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Brown University and Masters in International Development from MIT. She is currently working on a book on how caste-based status inequality shaped redistributive politics in post-Independent India.
