Sanjoy Chakravorty is Professor of Geography and Urban Studies at Temple University and Fellow at the Center for the Advanced Study of India at the University of Pennsylvania. Professor Chakravorty works on two broad themes: development issues in India and inequality theory. He published in the short form for many years—in geography, economics, development, and urban journals. Recently he has focused on books, including Fragments of Inequality, which analyzes structure and change in income distributions, and Made in India, which is a study of the economic geography of Indian industry. His most recent work is The Price of Land: Acquisition, Conflict, Consequence, forthcoming from Oxford in Fall, 2012.
