Sulakshana Rao is a Senior Fellow at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations. ICRIER. Her areas of interest include textiles and apparel sector, agri-food systems, resource economics, and sustainability assessments. Prior to joining ICRIER, she was associated with the G20 Agricultural Working Group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. She has also worked with ICAR-NIAP and IRRI, India.

She has a Ph.D. in Economics, in the subject area of natural resource economics, from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. She is a recipient of the INSPIRE Doctoral Fellowship by the Department of Science and Technology. She completed her master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Punjab Agricultural University, Punjab, and graduated with a degree in agriculture from Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur. Her research has been published in various international and national journals.
