Monica Jain

Monica Jain’s research focuses on a whole gamut of policy-relevant poverty and development issues including health and nutrition, labour, education, and governance. Currently she is working as a Senior Evaluation Specialist at the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie). Previously, she worked at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) where she analysed food security issues, especially those related to dietary quality of children and time use of women, in developing countries around the world. She has also worked for several years at The World Bank in the New Delhi office where she carried out a wide variety of policy-related research and dialogue and facilitated development of poverty and social monitoring systems across different states in India. She also worked on the design and implementation of project for strengthening the statistical system of India. She has also interned at The Brookings Institution where she analysed the role of transparency and accountability in development. She obtained her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Riverside and an M.Phil. and Master’s in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics.
