Santosh Gedam is a Ph.D. Candidate at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in the Public Systems Group. He has a Masters in Development Practice from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and a Masters in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He received his Bachelors in chemical engineering from Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, Nagpur and also has an LLB from Dr. Ambedkar Law College, Nagpur.
Santosh has extensive experience working in petroleum refinery, and marketing of petroleum products, and with governments, and multilateral organisations. He was the central government's Prime Minister's Rural Development Fellow and has worked in the areas of service delivery of public programmes such as MNREGA and the Public Distribution System. He has led the district-level mission to recognise community forest rights of villages under the Forest Rights Act and has worked to implement Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act. His research interests are at the intersection of rights-based approaches to conservation, forest management, sustainable and equitable livelihood, affirmative policy, social justice, constitutionalism, the concept of capital, ideas of democracy, and colonisation.
