Yanyan Liu is a research fellow in International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and an adjunct assistant professor at Cornell University. Yanyan received a joint Ph.D. in Economics and Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University in 2006. Her dissertation examined determinants of maize productivity in Kenya and studied valuation of agricultural insurance. Since receiving her Ph.D. she has worked for RTI International, and for the Development Research Group at the World Bank. Her current research includes impact evaluation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA) in India, economic transformation in Asia, fertiliser subsidy in Malawi, and sustainability and performance of women Self-Help Groups in India.
