Vikram Pathania is a lecturer in economics at the University of Sussex. He received his Ph.D. in economics from University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining Sussex, he was a research fellow at the London School of Economics, where he taught masters and undergraduate courses in microeconomics and strategy. He also has a B.Tech. degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, and an M.B.A. from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

He has diverse work experience spanning stints in UN agencies, investment banking, and consulting. He has worked at the World Health Organization in Geneva, and at the World Bank/IFC in Washington DC. He has also worked as a fixed income derivatives trader for UBS in London, and in economic consulting for Cornerstone Research in San Francisco. Whilst at the WHO, he published in major medical and public health journals such as JAMA and Lancet. He now publishes regularly in leading economics journals. His work has received coverage in several media outlets including the BBC, NY Times, LA Times, Bloomberg and many others. His current research interest is applied microeconomics with a focus on empirical analyses in health, development, and public policy.
