Sujan Bandyopadhyay is a researcher at CAFRAL (Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning) in Mumbai, India. His research interests include macroeconomics, monetary economics, development economics, and industrial organisation. He has worked on various projects such as understanding the impact of demonetisation on India’s trade balances, and analysing trends in socioeconomic convergence across states in India. His current research focuses on development economics issues such as understanding the relation between district collector transfers and political and economic outcomes of districts in India. Before joining CAFRAL, Sujan has had stints with Citibank in Mumbai and the State Bank of India (SBI) Youth for India Fellowship in Assam. He earned a master’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and bachelor’s in economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
