Assessing the impact of listing on access to finance for small and medium enterprises
- 30 October, 2016
- IGC Research on India
Small and medium enterprises are globally viewed as an engine of economic growth. However, growth in this sector is often limited by access to external finance due, in part, to SMEs being informationally opaque. In 2010, the Securities and Exchange Board of India issued guidelines to set-up dedicated trading platforms on exchanges for SMEs to raise equity capital. This project aims to examine the impact of access to finance on SME growth, and provide new evidence on how listing can improve debt and equity financing in a developing country.
