Abhijit Roy

Abhijit Roy, an alumnus of Delhi School of Economics and St. Stephen’s College, was with State Bank of India for 20 years in various capacities. Later, as Adviser to Zurich Financial Services, he supported this Fortune 500 Company in developing their India entry strategy in the areas of insurance, risk management and asset management. He has also consulted for leading domestic and international banks, corporates, the Indian government and NGOs. In addition to undertaking management development programmes with leading private and public sector corporates, Shri Roy has been a guest faculty in leading management institutes in India and abroad.

What will determine the costs of Prime Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana?
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana was launched in 2018 with the aim of covering hospitalisation expenses of the vulnerable 40% of the population, to protect them against financial risk arising out of catastrophic health expenses. It is touted as a game changer in the Indian health sector. Indrani Gupta and Abhijit Roy argue that if costs supersede the allocated funds for the programme, it may substitute other critical investments in the health sector and introduce distortions in the health services market.
