Devanik Saha

Devanik Saha is a Ph.D. researcher at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, UK. His research focusses on understanding men's involvement and experiences of pregnancy and childbirth in India. Last year, he worked with UNICEF India to coordinate a study on the impact of Covid-19's on vulnerable communities in India. Previously, he has also worked with SRIJAN India, BBC Media Action, World Bank, Tetra Tech International, Unilever India, Teach For India. His areas of interest are research on Covid-19, maternal reproductive health, men and masculinity, gender, and nutrition.

Challenges faced by community health workers in Covid-19 containment efforts

Although community health workers have been the backbone of the fight against Covid-19 in India, there has not been sufficient focus on their well-being and working conditions. Based on a survey in the Bundelkhand region, among the poorest regions in India, Saha et al., examine the perspectives and experiences of community health workers, and the socioeconomic hurdles faced by them during the pandemic.
