Krishna Priya Choragudi
Krishna Priya Choragudi is a Ph.D. Scholar in Economics at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Delhi. Her research interests lie in development economics and urban social policy. Previously, she has worked at the National Human Rights Commission as a Junior Research Consultant in the bonded labour division. She completed her Masters in Economics from Panjab University and Bachelors (Honours) in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University.

Examining Himachal’s urban employment guarantee
Despite proposals by economists on the need for an urban work programme in India, a national-level policy seems some time away from coming to fruition. However, some states have implemented such programmes and in this note, Krishna Priya Choragudi examines the case of Himachal Pradesh’s Mukhyamantri Shahri Ajeevika Guarantee Yojana. She contends that such schemes are an important step towards asset creation and livelihood security in urban areas, along with enhancing women's employment.
