Lazar Milivojevic

Lazar Milivojevic is a Ph.D. student and research assistant at Goethe University Frankfurt and the Institute for Monetary and Financial Stability. In 2018, he worked as a research intern at the World Bank’s South Asia Region Chief Economist office. He comes from Serbia, where he completed his undergraduate studies in economics and master's studies in econometrics at the University of Belgrade. His research interests are in the area of applied macroeconomics.

Fiscal policy and economic activity in South Asia

The Indian economy is currently experiencing a sharp slowdown, and the government has reacted with corporate tax cuts and a large infrastructure initiative. Using annual data from 1987-2017 for six South Asian countries including India, this article analyses the relationship between fiscal policy and economic activity in the region and finds that it amplified boom-and-bust cycles.
