Mahua Paul

Mahua Paul is an Assistant Professor at Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID), a national level policy research institute under the aegis of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). She has done her Ph.D. from The Benaras Hindu University (BHU). Her research interests include macroeconomics, international economics, industrial economics, and applied econometrics. She has a research experience of more than 15 years and has authored many papers that have been published in various reputed referred national and international journals. Since joining ISID, Dr. Paul has been involved in various research projects in the areas of international trade, industrial economics, and social sector. Before joining ISID, she worked at the Institute for Economic Growth (IEG), a policy think tank as a consultant and was involved in varied studies related to macroeconometric modelling and forecasting techniques. Dr. Mahua Paul joined ISID in 2006.

How operational efficiency of India's ports impacts its manufacturing exports

The average turnaround time of Indian ports has come down significantly since 2010, indicating improvement in their operational efficiency. However, it still is more than two times the level in some of the best-performing ports in the world. This article provides estimates showing that if the average turnaround time could be cut down by 50%, India’s manufacturing exports may increase by at least 20-25%.
