Mamta Pimoli is a Senior Manager at Good Business Lab (GBL) Foundation. She has managed projects focusing on workplace interventions that aim to promote worker well-being and workplace outcomes simultaneously among low-wage workers. She is passionate about designing solutions from the ground up and leveraging technology. Examples include independent provision of sanitary napkins at the workplace, enabling effective screening and training of managers in the industry, and developing solutions to promote sexual and reproductive health among others. She is currently working on scaling up multiple proven solutions. Mamta holds a Master's in applied economics from the University of Michigan.

Managerial quality and productivity dynamics

It is well known that managerial quality impacts firm productivity and growth. Which managerial skills, traits, and practices contribute most to productivity? Are all such traits easily observable? Are such traits appropriately rewarded in pay? Based on two years of daily, line-level production data from a large Indian garment firm and rich survey data on line managers, this article seeks to address these questions.
