Neil Buddy Shah

Neil Buddy Shah is Managing Director at Givewell. Prior to this he was a Founding Partner of IDinsight. He has extensive evaluation experience with the World Bank and MIT’s Jameel Poverty Action Lab (JPAL). Buddy has helped design the World Bank’s evaluation strategy for local governance strengthening programmes across India. He has also coordinated randomised controlled trials in health and governance with JPAL in India, and is the co-author of a Harvard Business School case study on translating research findings into policy in Kenya. Buddy holds an AB in Economics from Harvard University; an MD with special distinction in global health policy from Albert Einstein College of Medicine; and an MPA in International Development (MPA/ID) from Harvard Kennedy School.

Quantitative Baseline Assessment of Child Nutritional Status and Performance of ICDS Supplementary Nutrition Programme in Bihar

There are no easy solutions guaranteed to reduce leakage and increase the provision of nutritious food to Bihar’s millions of malnourished children and mothers. The quantitative assessment in this project was a first step that provides evidence of what the sources of leakage and areas of concern are overall. The findings provides the foundation for the design of interventions under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) to improve the supplementary nutrition programme.
