Prachee Mishra

Prachee is a senior analyst tracking legislation and policies in the infrastructure sectors at PRS Legislative Research. Before joining PRS, she worked with the New York City Department of Transportation and with a research team at New York University (NYU) Wagner Graduate School of Public Service on public transit systems and public spaces. She has also worked with the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy at Cambridge, United States on a research study on public housing and transit in Cape Town, South Africa. Prior to that, Prachee worked in Mumbai as an architect. She holds a Master's degree in urban planning from NYU and a Bachelor's degree in architecture from National Institute of Technology (NIT) Bhopal.

Land records and titles in India
Land ownership is broadly determined by access to a land title, which protects the rights of the title-holder, and impacts livelihoods, and industrial, economic, and social growth. However, land titles in India are unclear due to various reasons. In this article, Mishra and Suhag discuss those reasons, policies implemented to address poor land records, and challenges in moving towards a system of State-guaranteed titles.
