Tarun Ramadorai

Tarun Ramadorai is Professor of Financial Economics at the Saïd Business School, Oxford University. Tarun’s main areas of research interest are asset pricing, international finance, hedge funds, and household finance. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance, and a research affiliate of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). His policy advisory roles include being an Economic Advisor for the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), and during 2011 and 2012, he is Visiting Scholar at the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India.

Household Finance in India

How does mortgage regulation influence the structure and performance of housing finance? This project answers the question by analysing administrative data on over 1.2 million loans originated by an Indian mortgage provider, relating loan pricing and delinquency rates to the changing details of Indian mortgage regulation. This project finds evidence that regulation has important effects on rates and defaults.
