Teresa Molina

Teresa is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Research Affiliate at the IZA Institute of Labor Economics. Her research interests span the fields of development, health, and labour economics. Much of her recent work explores the effects of government policies on health, education, and labour market outcomes. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in 2017.

Expectations, wage hikes, and worker voice
Understanding how exit decisions of workers are affected by their ability to voice their concerns, is a central question in labour economics. Based on an experiment in 12 garment factories in Karnataka around the time of a wage hike, this article shows that providing workers a channel to express grievances – through an anonymous employee satisfaction survey – reduces quit rates, especially for those most disappointed with the wage hike.
