Vinod Hariharan

Vinod K. Hariharan is an Assistant Consultant with Oxford Policy Management Limited and is currently engaged with an embedded monitoring and evaluation unit for a World Bank and Government of Jharkhand funded project in Jharkhand, India. Previously, he worked as Teaching Assistant in the Department of Agricultural Economics, College of Horticulture, Kerala Agricultural University, as a Senior Research Associate in Center for International Projects Trust established by Columbia Water Center, and as Research Associate for the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center. His area of expertise includes monitoring and evaluation, community development, cropping systems, and livelihood research, sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture, value chains, and gender inclusion in agriculture. He has a Bachelors in Agriculture from the College of Horticulture, Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur, and a Masters in Agricultural Economics from College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.

किसानों की आय में सुधार करना: झारखंड में किए गए सर्वेक्षण से सीख

वर्ष 2022 तक किसानों की आय को दोगुना करने के केंद्र सरकार के लक्ष्य की दिशा में कार्य करने के लिए झारखंड राज्य सरकार ने 2017 में जोहार परियोजना आरंभ की। इस लेख में खनूजा एवं अन्‍य ने इस परियोजना के तहत शामिल किए गए ग्रामीण उत्पादक परिवारों के एक वृहद आधार-रेखा सर्वेक्षण के परिणामों को प्रस्‍तुत किया है और उच्च मूल्य वाली कृषि की ओर बदलाव को सुविधाजनक बनाने की आवश्यकता पर प्रकाश डाला है।

Improving farmers’ income: Learnings from a survey in Jharkhand

To work towards the central government’s goal of doubling farmers’ incomes by 2022, the state government of Jharkhand initiated the ‘Jharkhand Opportunities for Harnessing Rural Growth’ project in 2017. In this note, Khanuja et al. present results of a large-scale baseline survey of rural producer households that was undertaken under the project and highlight the need to facilitate the shift towards high-value agriculture.
