This project follows the implementation of a land distribution scheme towards Mahadalit households in Bihar, the most oppressed of the Scheduled Castes in the state. It aims to describe which Mahadalit families were able to acquire titles to land under the programme; what hurdles beneficiaries were faced in obtaining possession of the land and in constructing permanent homes on them; and what complementarities exist between this and similar programmes (such as the rural housing programme).
