Felix Rusche

Felix is a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the University of Mannheim and member of the Bonn-Mannheim Collaborative Research Center. In September, he will join Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods as a Senior Research Fellow (Postdoc).
As an applied micro-economist, his research interests span labor, development, and political economy. Beyond his topical focus, he is interested in the development of new methods to both accurately identify economic effects and draw insights from unconventional or unstructured data.

Tuning into empowerment: How community radio affects gender equality
India’s Community Radio Policy, 2006, enables educational institutions and NGOs to establish community radio stations to address local development issues via locally produced content. This article shows that exposure to community radio improves women’s outcomes in terms of education, marriage and fertility. The evidence makes a case for leveraging grassroots media to address gender inequality at scale in developing countries.
