Household responses to information, communication of actions of community, incentives on solid waste management actions: A case study of Delhi households

Delhi generates huge amounts of municipal solid waste per day. Given rising incomes, the already burgeoning mountains of waste will only grow further. Segregating waste at source is important for reducing emissions that pollute air, soil, and water; improving work conditions for rag-pickers; and increasing the amount that can be recycled. This project seeks to understand the factors that would induce households to segregate waste at source by experimenting with three interventions: information on dry and wet waste, communication of action of peers, and providing incentives to households.
