Francesca R. Jensenius is a Senior Research Fellow at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). In May 2013 she completed a Ph.D. in political science at the University of California Berkeley. Before starting at Berkeley, she pursued studies in political science and Hindi at Duke University, Delhi University and the University of Oslo.
Her areas of specialisation are comparative politics, comparative political economy, South Asian politics and research methods. In her dissertation, she explored the effects of electoral quotas for the Scheduled Castes in India. In other papers, she looks at political parties and electoral outcomes across India, variation in state capacity, how political choices affect development patterns, and issues of representation.
